I love trees, I like walking in woods and forests.  I photograph them, I draw them,  I just wander wondering.  Yes I like to forest bath, or as the Japanese say Shinrin Yoku, yes its healing, yes it’s beneficial to body and soul.  It’s inspiring and I paint to capture the experience of these beautiful sacred places.

The poet and artist William Blake wrote “The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity… and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.”

On the other side of the pond, the poet Thoreau wrote extensively about trees, seeing them as “living poetry,” written by nature on the landscape.  He called them “living incantations, wordless prayers, benedictions for the art of being.”

Acrylic painting of path through forest, New Zealand.
